Tinkr Creative Wins Two Digital Technology Leaders Awards
Tinkr Creative won Digital Project of the Year and Digital Resilience Initiative of the Year at the Digital Technology Leaders Awards 2026, recognising the Nant Gwrtheyrn app built with the Nant Gwrtheyrn heritage centre.
I’m delighted to share that Tinkr Creative won two categories at the 2026 Digital Technology Leaders Awards: Digital Project of the Year and Digital Resilience Initiative of the Year.
The Digital Technology Leaders Awards, run by Computing, are now in their tenth year and recognise the people, teams, and organisations driving meaningful change through technology. This year’s ceremony was held at the Royal Garden Hotel in London. Winning alongside organisations like BT Group, NatWest Group, and the Bank of England, as an independent studio, means a great deal.
About the project
Both awards recognise the Nant Gwrtheyrn app, credited jointly to Nant Gwrtheyrn and Tinkr Creative: a native iOS and Android app built for Nant Gwrtheyrn, the Welsh heritage village and language centre nestled in a valley on the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales.
The app guides visitors through the village’s nature trails, surfacing points of interest, local history, and Welsh language content at every step of the journey. It’s built offline-first: trails, maps, and content are all fully available without a data connection, which matters enormously in a remote location where mobile signal is unreliable.
The project was developed in close collaboration with the Nant Gwrtheyrn heritage centre and represents exactly the kind of work Tinkr Creative was built for: technology that genuinely serves a place, a community, and a living language.
Two awards, two stories
Winning Digital Project of the Year recognises the app as a significant piece of digital work in its own right: the ambition of the project, the quality of the build, and the impact it has had for visitors and the organisation.
Winning Digital Resilience Initiative of the Year reflects something I’m particularly proud of: the offline-first architecture that makes the app work in the real conditions of rural Wales. Building for resilience, for the moments when connectivity drops, devices are older, and the environment is unpredictable, isn’t glamorous work, but it’s the right work. It’s what makes an app genuinely useful rather than just impressive in a demo.
What this means
Tinkr Creative is built around apps that matter. The Nant Gwrtheyrn project is a perfect example of that: a focused team, a heritage organisation with a real need, and a piece of technology that makes a difference to the people who use it.
Winning at an awards programme of this scale, as an independent studio competing alongside much larger organisations, is genuinely encouraging. It’s a reminder that doing careful, purposeful work, even when the projects aren’t the loudest or the most commercial, gets noticed.
